Ingredients:
For the Beef Stew:
500g beef, cut into cubes
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tomato, chopped
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cumin
½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
1 cup beef broth
2 tbsp oil
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Steamed Bread (Dombolo/Idombolo):
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (7g) instant yeast
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup warm water
1 tbsp oil
For the Fresh Salsa:
1 cup diced tomatoes
½ cup diced cucumber
¼ cup chopped red onion
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
Salt to taste
Instructions:
Beef Stew:
Heat oil in a pot over medium heat and sauté the onions until translucent.
Add garlic and cook for another minute.
Stir in the chopped tomatoes and tomato paste, cooking until soft.
Add the beef, paprika, cumin, chili flakes, salt, and pepper, and brown the meat for a few minutes.
Pour in the beef broth, cover, and let it simmer for 45–60 minutes until the beef is tender.
Steamed Bread (Dombolo):
In a bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
Add warm water and oil, mixing until a dough forms.
Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth.
Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Shape into a loaf and place in a greased, heatproof dish.
Steam in a pot with water (without touching the water) for about 1 hour.
Fresh Salsa:
Combine diced tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and cilantro in a bowl.
Add lemon juice and salt, mixing well.
Serve the beef stew with slices of steamed bread and fresh salsa on the side. Enjoy! 😊🍽️
