🍽️ Nigerian Puff-Puff with Spicy Fries & Stir-Fried Cabbage



 Ingredients (Serves 2–3)


For Puff-Puff:

2 cups all-purpose flour


1 tsp instant yeast


1/4 cup sugar


1/4 tsp salt


1 1/4 cup lukewarm water


Oil (for deep frying)


For Spicy Fries:

2 medium potatoes, cut into fries


1 tbsp vegetable oil


1/2 tsp chili flakes


1/2 tsp paprika


Salt to taste


For Stir-Fried Cabbage:

1 cup shredded cabbage


1 small carrot (optional), grated


1/4 onion, sliced


1 clove garlic, minced


1 tbsp palm oil or vegetable oil


1/2 tsp crushed pepper or chili flakes


Seasoning cube or salt to taste


For the Drink:

Instant coffee or Nigerian tea (like Lipton or Top Tea)


Milk and sugar to taste


🧑‍🍳 Instructions

Puff-Puff:

Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a bowl.


Add lukewarm water gradually to form a thick batter.


Cover and let it rise for 45–60 minutes in a warm place until doubled in size.


Heat oil in a deep pan. Scoop small balls of batter into oil and fry until golden brown.


Drain on paper towels.


Spicy Fries:

Boil fries for 3–4 minutes (optional, for softness), then drain.


Toss fries with oil, chili flakes, paprika, and salt.


Air fry or pan-fry until crispy and golden.


Stir-Fried Cabbage:

Heat oil in a pan, add onions and garlic, sauté until fragrant.


Add cabbage and carrots, stir-fry for 3–4 minutes.


Add chili flakes, season with salt or seasoning cube.


Cook until slightly wilted but still crisp.


Creamy Beverage:

Brew tea or coffee in hot water.


Add milk and sugar to your taste.


Serve hot in a black mug for the modern look.
